The beauty of rice is that you can play around with it to make it look and taste different every time. This mustard rice is simple and an easy way to give left over rice a face lift. It also tastes great and make for good Instagram photos 😜 you know what I’m talking about.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup boiled rice
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbs coconut oil
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbs lemon juice/ vinegar
  • 2 tsp turmeric

Directions

1Heat some oil in a pan. I used the same sufuria I had boiled the rice. Yeah, I’m that person. Add the garlic and mustard seeds and let them cook until the mustard seeds start popping.

2 Add the turmeric powder and let it mix in with the oil and seeds. Pour the lemon juice or vinegar and add the rice immediately. Mix it all together until the rice is completely coated.

3You can serve the rice how you like it. I served this with lentil stew and kachumbari (salsa). Play around with serving options I am sure you will definitely find something you like.
